"Le origini del film" è un ciclo di tre incontri e proiezioni a cura di Philippe-Alain Michaud, curatore al Musée National d'Art Moderne Centre Pompidou, organizzato in collaborazione con l'Università IUAV di Venezia. I tre appuntamenti costituiscono l'occasione per esplorare le origini della produzione cinematografica attraverso i lavori di tre artisti-cineasti contemporanei, che spesso aggirano la storia del cinema e trovano spunti nella storia della pittura, nell'antropologia o nelle scienze esatte.
