The Shadow Ring

The Bourse de Commerce and the New York label Blank Forms present a concert by the legendary British avant-rock experimental group The Shadow Ring, featuring musicians Graham Lambkin, Darren Harris, and Tim Goss, in celebration of the release of a box set documenting their prolific decade-long existence (1992-2002). At the Bourse de Commerce, the trio’s performance will summon their current sonic incarnations, featuring readings, musical arrangements, and deconstructions.

Formed in 1992 by a group of rowdy teenagers in the port town of Folkestone, England, The Shadow Ring spent ten years crafting a ramshackle rock, raw and brash, imbued with wry and morbid lyricism, with a penchant for stark simplicity and atmosphere. They quickly became an enigmatic force on the musical sub-underground, distilling radical experiments with electronics, voice, and tape.

Before disbanding in 2002, The Shadow Ring left behind eight LPs, a handful of 7-inches, a spate of raucous live shows, and cryptic zine appearances, all which have bolstered their enduring word-of-mouth mystique. They reunited for the first time in July 2024 for a concert off the coast of New York, before heading to Paris, London, and Folkestone in the fall.
