Benoît Piéron becomes the ninth artist to participate in the Pinault Collection’s residency programme in Lens following Melissa Dubbin and Aaron S. Davidson (2016), Edith Dekyndt (2017), Lucas Arruda (2017/2018), Hicham Berrada (2018/2019), Enrique Ramirez (2020) and Melik Ohanian (2021).
Inaugurated in 2015 in the former mining town, the residence occupies a building converted to be able to host artists and equipped with a vast workshop. The selection committee for the resident artists is made up of rep-resentatives from the Louvre-Lens, Le Fresnoy — Studio national des arts contemporains, the FRAC Grand Large - Hauts-de-France in Dunkirk, the LAM (Lille Métropole musée d’art moderne de Villeneuve d’Ascq), and the Pinault Collection.
