Umberto Eco
Is a philosopher, medievist, expert in semiology and mass media, international editorialist, translator of nineteenth-century French and English authors, world specialist of James Joyce, friend and librettist of musicians like Luciano Berio and great connoisseur of contemporary art. In 2004 he edited the illustrated volume History of Beauty, followed in 2007 by History of Ugliness. In November 2009 he was grand invité of the Louvre in Paris, where he curated the exhibition Vertigine della lista, which inspired his eponymous book, published for Bompiani in 2009.
