Francesco Manacorda, art critic and former Director of Artissima in Turin, meets Adrian Ghenie, one of the protagonists of the exhibition The World Belongs to You.
Adrian Ghenie
He was born in 1977 in Baia Mare, Romania, where he co-founded Plan B, a production space and research center located in Cluj. In his art, themes of totalitarianism and brutal abuse of power are expressed by the texture, literally added to the canvas through the blending of representation and abstraction. Precise figuration coexists with drips and pours of paint and smeared surfaces, to emphasize the dark issues of extremism and disenchantment.
