On the occasion of the exhibition "Julie Mehretu. Ensemble", Palazzo Grassi presents a concert by Jason Moran, a prominent jazz pianist and composer who delivers a solo piano improvisation to the public, drawing his inspiration from the works of the Ethiopian American artist.
In 2017, Moran and Mehretu shared a workspace inside a former church in Harlem, New York, where the jazz musician created a musical suite conceived as an investigation into sound abstraction, which seeks to make the piano something more than just a musical instrument.
