How to put art in a book
"How to put art in a book" is a new project dedicated to publishing and its manifold connections with contemporary art, articulated in an exhibition and two public events, curated by Leonardo Sonnoli and Irene Bacchi.
The exhibition, on view from Thursday 9 to Sunday 19 November in the foyer of the Teatrino with a set-up by Massimo Curzi, brings together 52 books selected by the curators of the project alongside a number of prominent artists, designers and curators invited to nominate approximately five publications including monographs, exhibition catalogues or artists' books which they consider outstanding or unique.
The personalities invited to present their selection are curators Luca Massimo Barbero and Salvatore Settis, editorial designers Irma Boom and Tony Brook, and artists AA Bronson and Taryn Simon, who highly value the book as an object in their work. Alongside 37 volumes chosen by the invitees, Leonardo Sonnoli and Irene Bacchi identifies a series of other notable examples, due to the relation they establish between the publications and respective exhibitions.
The participants will discuss and comment on their curatorial choices during two public talks on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 November, in dialogue with Leonardo Sonnoli and Irene Bacchi.
