The historical selection of "CHRONORAMA" is put into perspective with 'Chronorama Redux', a project offering a contemporary look at these works from the Pinault Collection through the work of four artists: Tarrah Krajnak, Eric N. Mack, Giulia Andreani, and Daniel Spivakov.

The works are spread along the photographic path proposed by "CHRONORAMA", as interludes in the chronological rhythm. “Chronorama Redux” offers a contemporary look at the works of “CHRONORAMA. Photographic Treasures of the 20th Century”, the exhibition curated by Matthieu Humery that the Pinault Collection dedicates to the legendary Condé Nast archives recently acquired and presented to the public for the first time.

Only Krajnak uses photography in her performances, the photographic act being a tool to witness the before and record the after. Spivakov introduces photography to his canvas, as a symbolic support for the chromatic explosion that he elicits through painting. For Andreani, the image, especially portraits, is a source of inspiration to design her frescoes populated with characters that she draws from old family albums or photographic archives. With references closer to the universe of fashion, Mack borrows images gleaned from the pages of magazines and integrates them into his textile sculptures.

The catalogue, with a preface written by François Pinault, Francesca Bellettini & Anthony Vaccarello, presents the new works by four artists, Giulia Andreani, Tarrah Krajnak, Eric N. Mack and Daniel Spivakov, invited to design an in situ intervention for the spaces of Palazzo Grassi.

The practice of each of the four invited artists is analysed in the catalogue, conceived by the New York studio Shahid and Kraus, through the contributions of KJ Abudu, Matthieu Humery, Daniel Kehlmann, Christina-Marie Luemen, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Kate Palmer Albers, Bruno Racine and Julian Schnabel. The publication is illustrated by installation views taken at Palazzo Grassi and by photographs that have inspired the in situ works created by Giulia Andreani, Tarrah Krajnak, Eric N. Mack and Daniela Spivakov.
